Botox: the plain beauty facts
Wrinkle-relaxing injections have become one of the must-have treatments for anyone wishing to hold back or take back the years. Botox is an extremely effective treatment which sees fine lines and wrinkles diminish at the tiny prick of a needle.
It is a relatively non-invasive treatment which requires no recovery time and rarely has side effects. A little makeup will cover-up the small pink blemishes which may last a few hours.
Otherwise, it can be back to work or play immediately after your treatment.

With various myths and scare stories circulating in the media about this treatment, you need frank answers to all your possible questions.
Most importantly, you can be reassured about the safety and efficacy of this cosmetic treatment.
What is Botox?
Botox is the trade name for Botulinum Toxin. It is a purified protein which, when injected with a very fine needle into selected muscle groups, relaxes and re-educates the muscles thus reducing the appearance of lines.
The effect is particularly pleasing in the frown and worry lines of the forehead, with laughter lines - or crows' feet - and in certain areas around the mouth.

Discomfort is minimal and the treatment is over in a matter of minutes.
Botox is becoming more and more popular and is now accessible to everyone, not just celebrities. You might have read in the media of claims of people being 'over-treated'.
The treatment is so effective, that doing more than required achieves nothing.
It would be most unlikely that anyone being treated would not be astonished at the change.
People often ask, 'Is the effect immediate?' And they wonder how long it lasts.
Gradually the Botox treatment weakens the treated muscle, or muscles.
The effect starts at about three days after the treatment. You will see the maximum effect a fortnight after the treatment.
Working longer and longer
The change brought about by the first treatments will last from three to four months. Subsequent treatments work for longer and longer periods as the muscle is used less and less.
People of all ages can have Botox treatments - and do. Young people who want to prevent fine lines becoming more ingrained find great help from the treatment.
Much older people who wish to reduce established lines caused by years of frowning, concentration, and smiling, find Botox treatment to be the answer.
Of course, unless you can avoid making all facial expressions - like smiling, frowning, laughing, and crying - and all exposure to the sun, you are likely to want to take advantage of Botox treatment at some point in your life.
